If you are a fan of Little Nightmares 1 & 2, then I wouldn't recommend this game. The new developers completely missed the mark for what made Little Nightmares a good game.
FIRST OFF! AND I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH! THIS GAME IS NOT WORTH THE 40$, GET IT ON SALE! ALL OF THE COSMETICS ARE LOCKED BEHIND PAID DLC AND THE SECRETS GIVE YOU NOTHING!
With as little spoilers as possible. This game is a Spooky nothing burger. The art style mimics the first, and that is about the only thing that they got right. The puzzles are for babies, taking no mental capacity to solve them at all, and the entire game feels like a walking simulator going left to right, with no mix up to the experience. Instead of coming up with original ides, most of the big spooky moments are pulled directly from 1 & 2 and just spiffed up with a new coat of paint. There were literally rooms that were exactly the same from the first one, but with just different visuals.
Lastly, where the first games excelled at environmental story telling and giving you a world to try and piece together as you solved it, this game just feels like they through things at the wall in whatever order and thought 'YEP THAT SURE IS SPOOKY!' Nothing melded together, nothing made sense, and the controls felt like they were somehow worse. Me and a friend did the whole thing through and by the end, we just wanted it to be over, because there was nothing engaging. Nothing to make you stop and go 'Hmm... What is this?'
If you really want to play it, wait for a HEAVY discount, because this game feels like a cash grab.

Don’t Be Misled by IGN’s Lazy Score
IGN giving Little Nightmares III a 6/10 is downright embarrassing. It’s like they played it with their eyes closed and wrote the review during lunch break. Their review felt like someone who skipped every cutscene, rushed through levels, and then cried that the game is mid because it didn’t spoon feed them jump scares. The lack of effort is embarrassing, it’s like they were reviewing a trailer, not the actual game. Honestly, at this point, IGN’s 6/10 is starting to sound like a badge of honor for games that actually take creative risks.. Now for my actual review... I didn’t expect huge changes, but the game genuinely surprised me. The horror platformer formula we all know is still there, but it feels more refined and tense this time. Exploring The Spiral is creepy and exciting, and the addition of two playable characters, Low with his bow and Alone with her wrench adds real variety to puzzles and movement. It feels like the devs actually listened to what players wanted and gave the series a much needed coop spark. The game looks stunning on PC. Every environment oozes atmosphere, and the monsters are just the right kind of unsettling. The lighting is beautiful and really sells that eerie, dreamlike vibe. On a mid-range PC like mine, it runs great at high settings, and even the Steam Deck holds a solid 30 frames on lower settings. It’s not flawless, but it’s smooth enough that you stay immersed in the world without distractions. It’s not perfect though. Co-op being online only feels like a missed opportunity... this is a game that would’ve been amazing to play with someone next to you on the couch. Some puzzles feel too easy and familiar, and the platforming can still be a little clunky in a few spots. You’ll occasionally miss jumps or fumble object interactions, which breaks the flow a bit. There are also moments in busier areas where the frame rate dips slightly, especially on mid-tier GPUs.Final Thoughts
Despite those flaws, Little Nightmares III still feels like a step forward. It’s more accessible, more dynamic, and keeps the same dark charm that made the first two games so special. The coop adds a new layer of emotional depth and makes the story even more engaging. If the developers can patch up the occasional stutter and maybe add local co-op down the line, this could easily stand as one of the best in the series. As it is now, it’s absolutely worth playing, especially if you love dark fairy tale settings with a bit of heart and horror. The best part? The Friends Pass lets you play the entire game with a friend even if they don’t own it. It’s a genuinely player friendly move that should slowly becoming the norm now.Friend Pass Option Makes it Worth Buying!

The visuals and audio are great and the gameplay fun so far. So why leave a negative review?
I pre-ordered the Mirror (Collector's) Edition way back in early September. The "Dark Six Costumes Set" DLC, that has been advertised as a pre-order bonus, is missing from my library and Bandai is asking €2.99 for it. While not a lot of money, it's the principle that counts. Going to continue enjoying the game and leave this negative review here until Bandai unlocks my DLC.

*edit: My mom's retired, she looks forward to stuff like this as a way to spend time together. "I'm not going to play w/ a stranger" may sound odd I meant, I'm not looking to play this with anyone else online. For the dimwits saying "you can clearly see it states Online-Coop or why didn't you research the game you bought" I'll be sure to watch every dev video, article and pre-release gameplay video in the future thank you for changing my life.
We just kept hearing about CO OP and I bought this to play on the couch with my mom. Low and behold there is no local co op. Played for an hour and a half. There are so many mechanics related to your 'companion' I'm not going to play with a stranger online and the COOP mechanics are absolutely cumbersome playing it solo.
You can tell they even toned down encounters and chase scenes are non existent to accomodate if you are playing with someone that's not to quick.
Refunded. Just going to stick with Little Nightmares 2.
If they add local co-op I might rebuy.

I am so beyond heartbroken with this game. I have never left a steam review but i had to for this game. I have waited like 5 years for this to release only to be kicked in the face repeatedly. The story is bad, nothing about the environments or enemies was really ever explained, it was extremely buggy at points, characters getting stuck or losing items to the point we had too reset from checkpoints or kill ourselves. the ending is terrible and answers a question nobody was asking. The only thing remotely tied to the first two games doesnt build upon their story at all. Its a fucking "it was all in his head" ending. What was the point of the entire game? what did we learn or accomplish? i dont even know what to say im so sad right now i could cry cause i cared so much about this series and immedietly spent 85 dollars on it so i could play with my friend and now i feel cheated.
Edits: I am aware of the fact there is a friend pass so i did not need to purchase the game twice, i purchased it twice before it released so my friend could also have access to little nightmares 1 and so she could replay the game with anyone else at any point.
I was so excited for this game, so unbelievably excited and i wanted it to be good so badly but it just wasnt. In the first two games all the enemies were connected, they had a reason to be there and were related to the "big bad" the environments also showed this. This game feels so lackluster in comparison. None of the enemies have a reason to be there or real functions inside the story. It seems like there was going to be more lore at some point in the game, me and my friend noticed a poster in the background about i believe the spider lady (idk her name) holding some of the candy that was being produced like an advertisement. Maybe this could have given us more idea about the world we were in but nothing else like that ever came up. none of it matters because it was all in the kids head it seems. What was the point of anything we did? even if it were explained and the world was built upon it doesnt matter.
the character you choose doesnt matter at all other than aesthetics really, which is an insane missed opportunity for replayability. It felt like the game was scared to have one player experience something and not the other. Whenever you have one character go someplace to make an opening for the other player it never mattered who went where. and both characters had the exact same experience during gameplay. The one and only time i think it mattered was at the very end where low needs to hold a door open so alone could walk to the other side and break a wall for low to follow .(FIVE HOURS INTO THE GAME BTW,) I was waiting the whole game for us having to split up at somepoint and accomplish something for a greater progression forward together but it never happened.

The game looks nice and fun like the first 2.
However, there is no local coop. On top of that, once anybody in the steam family owns the game, nobody can download the friends pass. So, I'm locked out of playing with anybody in my steam family.
EDIT:
This issue is solvable as people have pointed out.
We still can't play on the coach. I'm able to do this in other games like it takes two by just "playing" the game on my computer while looking at the other person's game. But, this game gives players two separate POVs. Split screen is needed.

I paid $65 for a game that took me and my buddy 4hrs to complete and like a few hours looking for the dolls. But overall this game is far from worth $65 let alone $40 normally. I paid for the all the costumes and my friend couldnt use a single one with the friend pass. The monsters were very lackluster and the puzzles easy to solve. The expansion pass doesnt come out until next year when the game will surely be forgotten. All around i feel very cheated out of my money and wouldnt recommend this to anyone.

This garbage is a STAIN on the all-amazing Tarsier Studios, and Little Nightmares as a whole. One of my most beloved franchises absolutely butchered because of Bandai's disgusting greed. I will continue on believing Little Nightmares ended at 2.
I genuinely believed all the negative reviews were unjustified, but after finishing it they're completely right. Wow.

i usually dont do serious reviews but all of these negative reviews (at the time of making this) are so utterly braindead and can be summed up by them being upset that somebody that wasnt tarsier made this game.
first things first, i WILL say that the game is a little overpriced. not to the degree of it being a cash grab, but i'd certainly would prefer if it were 10 dollars cheaper. second things second, i do think little nightmares 2 is an overall better game, but that's because it's such an amazing game that they had no chance at topping it in my opinion, but i do believe they at least came a little close which is a great feat in of its own.
i played this game with my friend and we had a blast. i really liked the story, the gameplay has probably some of the best the series has seen, and overall i think it does little nightmares justice. dont go into the game expecting it to be a continuation of 1 and 2 and treat it moreso as it's own thing and you'll enjoy it way more. it's not perfect by any means, and for the ending i do think that the final boss feels way more disconnected from the story unlike the lady or the thin man, but i think it gets the point across well enough. i implore you to give this game a fair chance and dont set crazy expectations for yourself otherwise you'll always be disappointed no matter what. 8.5/10 game
EDIT: after replaying the game in singleplayer, i do feel the experience is a little bit less enjoyable since this game was definitely built with 2 people playing in mind. due to that i think i'd put it down to just an 8/10 but i still really enjoyed the game regardless and im still hopeful for the future of this series

Personally, it's a shame that there aren't many ways to lead your friend to their doom. The game inherits the aesthetic strengths of the series, but the core design has actually regressed. The co-op element has potential, but because the gameplay is heavily focused on cooperation, the horror direction is also more restrained than before, often leading to moments of boredom rather than tension. It would be a decent choice for series fans.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! AGAIN, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!
WAIT FOR "REANIMAL" (the previous devs of Little Nightmares 1 and 2).
I played this with my wife. Since we both played the previous series, both of us are in agreement that the only thing this game contributes is nostalgia from the first 2 games (the hugging of gnomes, the dolls etc). Below are some of the points why this game is a fail for us:
1. TOO SHORT - seriously? We finished the entire base game in one sitting. Yes they do plan for a "paid" DLCs which means the base game feels more like a demo. Not worth the price we paid for.
2. PACING is CRAP - Too many vents that would lead to rooms that have nothing in them. You go to a room then a vent then an empty room again then vent then another empty room. Yes the rooms are visually pleasing but many has no contribution to the story or atmosphere.
3. SHORT CHASES - The chases are too short to even be called a chase. PERIOD
4. BOSSES? WHAT BOSSES?- Remember the first 2 LN where every chapter has a boss fight or a chase at the end? This only have 2 bosses One is a chase (cant even call it a chase because again it's too short) and the other is the final boss.
5. YOU CALL THAT PUZZLES? - You get the ability to smash and shoot arrows but I feel they were not utilized to the fullest. The only puzzle that I think is good is the teddy bear puzzle and that is very late in the game.
6. STORY - We tried to look for a deeper meaning but the story is shallower than a puddle. We even predicted what's going to happen before we reached the end.
7. NO COUCH COOP - If you play in PC you need 2 PCs to play this in COOP. I believe the same is for playstation. AGAIN, JUST WAIT FOR REANIMAL if you only have one console/PC to play this.
8. PRICE - this is not worth the price for a base game. I WOULD HAVE REFUNDED THIS IF I COULD but since I still have a family member who wants to play this then I won't so that they would realize how BAD this game is.
LITTLE NIGHTMARES 3 DOES NOT EXIST. LITTLE NIGHTMARES SERIES STOPPED AT LITTLE NIGHTMARE 2!

First off, I really truly want to give this game a thumbs up. But I can't.
Pros:
- What story is there is somewhat interesting and sort of engaging.
- Chase sequences were thrilling and made me laugh at some parts.
- The AI isn't the worst I've ever seen. (I died more than it).
- Good character design, except for the final boss. Felt like a random body horror tag just slapped onto the design and that was it.
Cons:
- Biggest one, the story feels VASTLY incomplete. With only four chapter in the base game, the rest of the story is locked behind either the future DLC or the podcasts and media outside of the game.
- If you've seen the trailer, you've seen nearly 3/4th of the game.
- Most of the game is a garbled mess lore wise and fully relies on the player to piece something together, even if it's wrong. Those who haven't listened to the podcasts for example, won't know some lore behind one of the bosses. This lore is never mentioned in game as far as I'm aware.
- Feels like the game was chopped into pieces to make a DLC, especially with the ending.
- Most of the game mechanics beside the bow and wrench felt like weird one off gimmicks. The only one that felt good to me was the umbrella in the first chapter and you had it for a grand total of about 20 minutes.
- The soundtrack didn't feel like it had any big moments, at least not that I noticed (could be wrong), a bland track that if I wasn't paying attention to it wouldn't have even registered.
- The ambiance was kind of a let down.
- The graphics feel like they took a step back from the first two games. In 1 and 2 we had a central location to explore, one that forced an approach of quality over quantity. The locations shown here felt like cardboard cutouts of a "spooky" setting.
- Why are there already so many DLC's for skins? It's a story game, people came for lore content, horror, and to be immersed in the world of borderline eldritch adults. You want skins, fine, make people earn them in game or offer one big pack.
Perhaps people might say it's unfair to compare the qualities of this game to it's predecessors, especially given the change of studios. To this I say, if you're going to take a beloved IP like Little Nightmares and give it the Overwatch or Marvel Treatment, don't make any more. We don't want to be milked for our money, we don't want to have to go trawling through distant media for the full story, and if you're not willing to put some cohesive effort in like Tarsier Studios did, then just stop.
Save your money, wait for Reanimal. Hopefully it pulls through where Supermassive Games has failed.

I paid over $40 for this game and only got about 2–4 hours of gameplay. I was honestly shocked when I saw the credits roll. It felt a little like a scam. This was one of my most anticipated titles of the year as well, which made the disappointment even worse. I actually did enjoy playing it to some extent, and I don’t think it’s a terrible game overall, but there are too many flaws to overlook. Giving it a positive review would feel like ignoring those issues, and if everyone does that, the devs and publishers will just look past them since they’re still getting their money’s worth either way.
The story misses so many key points that made the original games great, and this one just doesn’t capture that. I don’t think the gameplay is bad at all, but it doesn’t really surpass what the past games did either. I also felt like the fluidity of the gameplay animations took a step down compared to before. The combat was a fun addition though, and I can see why some people might enjoy it more. The story itself is actually a little interesting after looking more into it, and I might change my perspective a bit after the DLCs come out, but the storytelling just doesn’t come close to what the first two games delivered. It doesn’t build atmosphere or emotion in the same way. I also feel like they didn’t spend enough time showing Low and Alone bonding, so their friendship never feels as strong or meaningful as Six and Mono’s.
The single-player experience was also disappointing. Teamwork with the AI felt clunky and slow, especially compared to the second game where Six felt much smarter and more like a real person. I can imagine this game being more fun playing with someone else, but the single-player experience was poorly delivered.
Overall, the game is short and visually impressive (though I wouldn’t say as impressive as the first two), but it fails to deliver the atmosphere, story, and smooth gameplay that made the earlier titles great. Unless you’re willing to pay over $40 for a 3-hour-long game, I really wouldn’t recommend getting it. However, if money ain’t a problem and you’re a fan of the previous games, I’d maybe say go for it. Some people might like it, some might not. It really depends on the person.
Edit: For those who say Little Nightmares games are supposed to be this short, I am aware. My issue isn’t the length itself but how the story uses it. If there had been more impactful moments with Alone and Low, the ending would have hit harder , and I would not mind it being short. Instead, the game mostly has you running around and solving very simple puzzles. The only real new addition is the combat mechanics. The story and characters never leave an impression, which left me more confused than sad that it ended so quickly.
In Little Nightmares 2, impactful scenes between Six and Mono made the story hit harder. We already knew Six, so most players already felt a little attached to her, which made it easier to connect with Mono too, especially after everything they went through together. This game, however, introduces two new characters but gives no time to form any real attachment to them, because it focuses on running, puzzles, and combat rather than emotional moments.
And to those saying I didn’t take my time, I explored, checked every corner, and paid attention to all the details in the environment, yet the story still only lasts about 2 to 4 hours. My disappointment comes from how short the experience feels, not from rushing through it.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, WAIT FOR REANIMAL (the actual devs of Little Nightmares)
