If you are disabled and can only play with the onscreen keyboard then I do not recommend this game as it doesn't work with the Windows OSK. I reported this in 2022 and 2023 and it has still not been fixed in 2025. Bizarrely this is the only game I have played that doesn't recognise the OSK so I don't understand why the development team have issues with this. All in all, disappointed in the devs on the radio silence on a gamebreaking issue for some disabled gamers EDIT 16/09/2025 So with the inclusion of the rebindable keys I discovered a work around. For some reason only certain keys don't work such as the arrow keys, however rebinding those keys to say WASD will let you play. Unfortunately for me that required the assistance of another person to rebind the keys which is frustrating

I bought this game excited to see the development but unfortunately I have a compact keyboard and dont have arrow keys to move around. If you could please add an option to customize controls for wasd I'd love to play :)

I was really looking forward to the game and at first I was absolutely thrilled - until I tried to sell potions and sweets in the shops. At that moment, the game hangs in the iOS version and has to be restarted. Since it's not possible to sell things, but you need money to continue playing, the game is not playable and I'm extremely disappointed by this. Absolutely not recommended for mac users at this time.

The art looks gorgeous, but the dialogues are way too verbose. If you're gonna have a 10 minutes cutscene, do it as a cinematic. Pressing talk buttons for ten minutes isn't fun outside of a novel. I'll update the review as I play. For the moment being, I'll trust the developers and leave a positive note, since so far the art is really good and the gameplay looks fun from the trailer.

This game is good BUT there are some big issues that really make me not want to keep playing. For starters... I don't like the locked keys. I would much rather be able to use my mouse. Additionally I had to look up what keys there were to use just to be able to start playing which was not intuitive. Aside from that my biggest issue is there is no function to pause this game. I just lost TWO DAYS OF GAME PLAY because I thought you could pause the game with opening your book since it appears to pause. That meant I missed deliveries and apparently a cut scene from what I gathered from the initial chat when I got in and who knows if I missed more. Extremely disappointing and as there can be only one save file I cannot go back to where it was before I thought I paused. This makes me want to not even keep playing as I don't want to have to redo everything I had done.

In it's current state I do NOT recommend this game. I feel as if the devs had 'I'm not like the other girls' vibes when creating the keybinds for gameplay. Being able to change keybinds is a vital part of any game, and they completely dropped the ball on this one. Saying to 'just switch to a controller' as a fix, is rude. Not everyone has one, or should have to buy one just because devs refused to implement normal keybinds and controls. This completely ruined the game for me. In their FAQ, they have acknowledged the many people complaining about this, but state it's too difficult to implement and they need more time. There should have been foresight on this, and regardless of it's alpha status, should have been implemented before any sort of release. This is a refund-worthy mistake, and the dev's need to take this more seriously than they are instead of saying 'it's too hard'.

I really like this game because it's so cute and relaxing. Also stories is quite interesting. B U T there is A HUGE mistake, this game is not save !!! All my game play was gone. All gone !! No matter how often I saved, it still gone. I don't suggest this game until dev fix this BIG mistake.

This game is practically impossible for any PC player who is used to WASD, E and mouse click being the primary buttons. I physically couldn't play I kept defaulting to wasd and would get frustrated when the character wouldn't move. With Z being so far from the arrow keys it throws m off. Please allow for control remapping or something in the future. For now physically unplayable for long time PC players.

Consider this a review specifically of the Early Access version of Little Witch. I'll happily revisit the game and update my review after EA, and I look forward to seeing how it improves. ~~~~ Pros: ~~~~ *Little Witch is rated A for adorable. The pixel art, animations, character design, conversation portraits, names of plants and animals, activities like chasing pumpkin pups or blossom birds, even just the basic concepts of many things in game, like the fact that you brew magical candy. It's all so cute. *A cozy cottagecore vibe is the game's other main strength. It doesn't want you stressing about crop schedules and remembering when someone's birthday is or which villager likes to eat amethyst, it just wants you to relax, and it is pretty good at fostering that relaxation as long as it doesn't get in its own way with clunky controls and unwanted dialogue interruptions. *No combat! At least none that I've encountered yet. That's more of a sub-point to the last one, but worth mentioning on its own. In a world innundated with games about fighting, it's nice just to be nice for a while. If there is some kind of combat later in the game please correct me in the comments. *I liked that a couple of quest-related mandatory long walks across the map were skipped with cutscenes. The world is pretty cute and worth exploring, but less tedium is appreciated now and then. *Lastly, and it's a small thing, but an unexpected VA11-HALL-A reference at the start made me giggle. ~~~~ Cons: ~~~~ *Sometimes the game isn't cute and it's jarring. Newer Disney and Pixar movies blend some adult humour into kid friendly films really well, and Sunny Side Up should take notes. Ellie's sense of humour tends more toward crass or juvenile than subtly mature. *Little Witch leans heavily into a retro game vibe, and sadly there are areas where that detracts from the game. The controls are spot-on old school, and distractingly bad for it. Arrow keys to move, Z to select/activate/do everything, Q-W or E-R to scroll through things, S to open one menu and D for another (with no button to smoothly swap between them without backing out), X to cancel. Inventory management is awful just because of the controls involved, and potion brewing, one of the game's main activities, is similarly badly handled. It's a constant annoyance to contort my hand to get anything done and a session any longer than my two hours as of writing this review will definitely leave my hand cramped if I don't switch over to playing on my Azeron soon. *The worse sin however is Little Witch's bad writing. Dialogue is sometimes stilted, frequently repetitive or abrupt, and overall amateurish. Many characters immediately declare their motivations and history, and when they don't there's a clearly labeled button to prompt them to do so. Inexplicably there is also a button dedicated to prompting NPCs to spout the kind of meaningless jibber jabber you automatically tune out or skip whenever possible in games where very litte effort was put into the dialogue (and it pains me to write that as a person who enjoys the roleplaying aspect of games and often hears out everything NPCs have to say—I'm not usually a dialogue skipper). Virgil, Ellie's talking hat companion, is a modern day Navi, ever ready to interrupt you in the middle of something with a reminder that you haven't mashed the "skip dialogue" button in a while. All of this is pretty unforgivable for a game that bills itself as being all about the story. So, if the gameplay is intentionally spare to focus on the story, and the story makes you want to skip everything, you have to ask yourself what's left? Well gosh, it's just lucky that it's so darn cute.

Walking speed is way too slow even with sprint on. Took me an hour to get to the point of crafting the first potion. Otherwise a promising game with adorable graphics that I would really like to see it unfolding, but the walking speed takes away so much fun that I wouldn't recommend until it is fixed (also, the game is stuck when the witch made the curse-lifting candy and went back to the house. No response pressing any keys. Force closed and tried again but the issue persisted at exactly the same plot point.)

It crashes at least 3 times while playing just in 30 munites. Such a waste of money.

Don't buy !!!!!!!!!!! They just don't do any big updates to the game since it released last year. I'm now even start to believe the group just run away.

I don't usually write reviews and I wish I could caveat this negative so let me be very clear. I LIKE THIS GAME. I think the style and visuals are really neat and I absolutely love the character design. That on top of the atmosphere gives this game the potential to be fantastic. But there is one glaring problem. THERE IS TOO MUCH POINTLESS DIALOGUE. I don't need to be handheld through every scene of the game or every menu or every other mechanic. I get it, a game that has a lot of focus on atmosphere and vibes needs to have characters that you can get an invested in, but overloading the player with too much dialogue dilutes those important moments and makes gameplay feel like marching through a swamp. Virgil doesn't need to speak every time Ellie does. There doesn't need to be a pause every time theres dialogue, just pull back some of the pointless dialogue to only the more important moments and let us enjoy the rest of the game. Please don't make this an RPG visual novel. Let the game breathe. If this issue is ever fixed I will change my review immediately.

The game looked amazing from the previews shown but you start off the game with an insane amount of exposition text to read through. I never even got to the game play because I got fatigued from having to read so much about places and people that aren't even a part of the story! Don't get me wrong, the dialogue is well written. But I don't play games to read well written dialogue. I loaded this game because I wanted to make potions and gather herbs and help townsfolk not to read a book of a genre that's not really for me.

I'm torn about this review because the game has potential and things going for it, but it also has things I don't like about it and needs polish. I played it all the way through (Cloud Valley update). The good: - Music and art style - Ellie and Virgil's dynamic, I laughed several times at Virgil roasting Ellie - Ingredient collection and tool mechanics are diverse and satisfying - Potion/candy-making mechanic is awesome, doesn't get repetitive - Zooming and drifting around on the broom is fun - Cats! - Getting to customize some aspects of the village while restoring it The bad (imo): - I don't actually like most of the villagers (I did like Enite, Rubrum and Roy). Kyla's alcoholism made me cringe, especially when she got embarrassingly sloshed in front of Ellie who is a minor. Arden is rude and it doesn't get endearing. Rex is obnoxious. I don't enjoy most of the villagers' character designs. - The font; it bothers me that it doesn't match the aesthetic of the rest of the game - It takes too long to befriend the cats. I fed them everyday from the day I unlocked the bowls and by the time I beat the game I had only barely made friends with 2 of the cats. I also hand-fed some of the cats once I knew what they liked and still didn't make much progress - Outdoor elevators in Cloud Valley have a visual bug when you use them from the north side - The Witch's House repair actually felt jarring at first, going from a small, nicely decorated cozy space to a much too big, empty one. It somehow felt like a downgrade, although the exterior did look nicer. - Following the above point, I don't feel like this game needed home decor functionality - I didn't understand why Diane got replaced with a scroll and I hated having the bell and scroll clutter up my front yard - It would be nice if the quest tracker would indicate when we got an item we needed, such as with strikethrough or checkboxes - The mixer...I understand there are some upgrades to purchase but in its default state, having to mash the A button forever to slowly fill those 4 bars was an uncommon kind of torture Overall I'm not sure yet if I'll come back for future updates, but I'll keep an eye on it!

First of all, let me say that I really really enjoyed my 14h in the game. Having said that, I couldn't in good conscience recommend this game at the moment - the devs have completely abandoned the community (as of this review being typed). They don't respond to any requests for a sign of life on their own official discord server and their admins ignore the server altogether. If this game does get worked on, if the issues it has get fixed or heck - even if there's any sign the game hasn't been abandoned, I'll gladly recommend it. By the way, fix the horrid stutter too
