I bought Anomalous Coffee Machine for its... unique artstyle, which I find to be very elegant! At first I thought, oh. This is just one more of these NSFW games with no clear premise outside of just being NSFW, but I was actually wrong on this! The gameplay is something I've never seen, not even sure how to describe it - Experimental I suppose? You manage a coffee machine that can generate any type of coffee and drink possible. You can serve these drinks to the girl who's the owner of the machine, and a lot of the drinks can transform her into many forms - Creepy, Cute, Abominable, Gorgeous or even Lovecraftian. Some of the forms can evolve if you mix them with other drinks, and the possibilites are almost endless. I really do admire the work that the developer have put in all of these forms, as they do not feel rushed - Every single form has its own charm. There's a lot of interactions you can... do with these forms but I'm not gonna spoiler them out here, have a try at them! (Reminder that this is a NSFW game and certainly not a family-friendly one, if you gross out easily this might not be your... cup of coffee.)

Pros: -I really want a game like this to exist -Some genuinely cool art (rumors about it being plagiarized, I have not looked for evidence but this does seem plausible to me) -Modding tools could hypothetically flesh out more of the game Cons: -After a while it sank in that most of the text in the game is probably written by AI. It's not total slop, but it just ends up feeling very same-y. The dev has a pretty recognizable "voice" when writing in their blog posts, so it's pretty easy to notice when they actually wrote the text in the game -SO many keywords that you might try are unimplemented, but then there's like 30 different greek and egyptian gods for no particular reason. I don't know what steam will censor from my examples, so some I'll have to describe, but here's a selection of words that get no results: Tasty, Gum, Flowers, Balls, Wind, Trash, Gems, Potion, The part of anatomy that gives birth, fellatio aka oral sex, masturbation aka self-stimulation, Cartoons, Earth. Anomalous Coffee Machine is a game that costs 10 dollars on steam. After 20 hours of guessing 374 words, less than half of the 737 valid available words in the game, I have no clue if the money was well spent. Nsfw Since the reason I found the game was from the sexual parts me and moka found, i'll start with that. The lewd section of gameplay, while yes more present than not in both the fact that there are a total of 133 sex scenes (all featuring different positions) and that a few transformations even have two instead of one, they are less fluid and more of an effort to achieve than someone playing with the goal in mind of reaching said scenes would expect to do. In addition to the effort required, the selling point of the game being a “nsfw” game really starts to be questioned when more often than not the search for said scenes often have gaps of those obscene and jarring transformations placed in between the next word with a scene attached. On top of this, some words with scenes attached are just naturally more unpredictable; some that do have scenes attached can also be naturally more unpleasant to look at. Aside from the sexual parts, the pacing of the game itself is certainly something that could be improved in some ways. During the first 50 words the player decides to enter into the machine, the game is actually pretty fun! Horu, the girl in the game that you give the different cups of “coffee” to, seems pretty harmless at first and the novelty of entering different words instills a feeling of joy and really feels like the beginning sentence of “almost any word you can think of will cause a reaction” means anything less than infinity is possible. After the player’s first 50 words are guessed and they start nearing 100 words for, the words start to grow harder to get without some form of hint. While at first this can be easily solved with a glance at the achievements (the over 50 animal transformations encouraging the player to try more animals, and the rps achievement telling you to do: rock, paper, and scissors, along with other achievements giving solid hints by inferring what is required to get them) the game actually tries to discourage this by the lack of forgiveness of the hint button. While you do have the option to use the hint button, more than a few times the game will quite literally say “I'm not in the mood for hints at the moment.” And upon successfully getting a hint, it often speaks in a riddle that the player still needs to solve in the first place. Now normally I wouldn’t be mad at this since it would add to the feeling of mystery the game tries to add to the gameplay, but it all becomes meaningless when you can just go afk for a few minutes and the game will just flat out give you a random word for free; rendering the mostly usable hint button borderline pointless. Now while there is an option to toggle “auto-hints” in the settings menu, the player shouldn’t need to change the state of the game to use a feature that is solely to make the game easier in some ways. Nor should they need to stop playing altogether for any amount of time just to get a free handout that can be any of the 737 words, WHICH CAN INCLUDE WORDS ALREADY GUESSED And this entire issue of word gathering only serves to get worse as the player gets more discovered words. By the time you actually get to the halfway point as I have, you start needing to either give yourself hints by looking up random words in the hopes that they are a part of the 737, or just flat out cheating by looking up the words themselves because it becomes obscenely hard to actually figure out which words work or not. Hell, I would argue that I have tried around 550 words at this point, yet I am only at 374 at this moment. The exponential decline in possible words able to be used combined with the bad hint giving and the incentive to just wait for a handout make the pacing in the game slow to a crawl and the word gathering more of a chore rather than a fun novelty. While the sexual parts of the gameplay might be harder to reach than expected, there is a sense of humor in the fact that some transformations you wouldn’t expect to be fuckable are indeed a part of the 133 different scenes available in the game. I actually tend to have the most fun with the game when I type in ‘Cup of “sex’” as a joke towards a transformation I wouldn’t expect to actually accept, and it actually does go through. Plus, while the animations for the scenes are rougher than expected, the scenes themselves feel more emotionally tied towards both the word and the transformation itself, which add to the impact of each scene beyond mindless sexual content. Maid for example has a face of numbness during her scene, which adds to the prior text before the scene which says “this time it feels different to the other times.” In regards to the more jarring transformations that are sexable, they do tend to fill in the gaps that the more visually appealing transformations that are sexable do not, so they do at least serve a serviceable purpose besides shock value. plus also the game has a bit of a identity crises of the purpose and intent of the individual sex scenes i guess in some cases like alien and cancer they kind of make sense, but a lot of them dont plus also, the game just CANT pick a side between which words would be likely to trigger a scene; abstraction and alien do, but how tf would someone guess that ABSTRACTION of all words would work i dont know why the sex scenes are so revealing to the flaws and praises of the game, but they really are basically every problem and benefit involved with this game can be tied to the sex scenes either in general or individually even the artstyle / art product is very all over the place the game is NOT supposed to be uniform and it would be way worse if it was dont get me wrong but at times it feels like many of the transformations were made when the artist felt more experimental and more often than not this leads to its down fall soulless isnt the word to describe the art, nor bad nor lame, nor even boring really the term would be unfulfilling most of the art is just unfulfilling at least the visually appealing ones let me admire them a bit before they fade from my memory But after the gameplay loop loses luster, the puzzle becomes too hard to do without inside or outside help, the sex/death scenes become the only unique and fun part for the slog of pacing, and the monsters taint the art itself, even the nice looking ones just become unfufilling as well Out of the 250 transformations bare minimum, only like 10-30 i can remember and describe in detail i cant say for sure if i would call this game good or bad, regardless of how much i have and still do wana rant about it, but i can at least say that my time spent was worth it there was and still kinda is a part of me that cant wait to boot up this game just to keep trying more words so i will say: if you do play the game, go to around 100 words before you cast your desicion the ONLY reason im upvoting this game is because...at the end of the day: i hope the creator continues making games and media and i hope i can experience the next stuff welp. back to the word grind.

Fun game, the different words combinations are interesting to uncover. It would be great even without the H content. However I can't recommend the game because of blatant art designs counterfeit (and yes I mean traced art). In a game mostly about discovering more designs, this is unacceptable and lazy.
