Finally, after a few bumpy years of meh updates this one packs some real gems like path modes, autocage and autoupdates.
Definitely would recommend, especially if you rocking 2022 version or older

My review will probably be a drop in this toxic sea of hate. But I switched from the 2022 version and am very happy. Thanks Adobe for the opportunity to buy a permanent version on Steam.
Of course, we want more new features, but in my opinion, it has long been clear that there is no point in buying a version every year and waiting for tons of new things there.

People are being way too pessimistic. One positive is it's cheaper than buying a monthly subscription! I would buy Substance this year though since there wasn't a subscription option for 2024. They may do away with the one-time purchase next year. It's unlikely they'll add any game-changing features anytime soon, so bite the bullet now rather than have to pay more later.

it brings me no joy to give money to this god awful company, and i hate to admit that there isn't a single alternative to this software that even remotely comes close to being as good, but oh well. atleast, its a perpetual license, so adobe's losing in the long run.

Good software, standard for 3D texturing, none of the competition is as good at it, however Marmoset Toolbag 5 is way better at baking. Can't really avoid Substance Painter if you want to work in 3D games with PBR textures.
Updates very rarely, so you can buy a version and use it for the next 5 years, just enough time for them to add useful 2 features. Think of it as buying COD or FIFA.

It’s completely baffling why they switched those two buttons around and then duplicated one of them—it’s just inconvenient and plain stupid. They haven’t fixed any bugs, and they obviously don’t care.
Honestly, the Allegorithmic team needs to overthrow Adobe so they can work on the program again.
Ever since Adobe scooped up the Substance developers, they’ve fallen into a deep depression and cry every day, sitting there in tears. And I understand why—how could you not be upset when you used to be a top-tier developer, and now the Adobe director is basically pissing on you, shows zero respect, and makes you crawl on all fours and bark?

A 2025 Permanent license for 200 bucks? This is a great deal. Texturing in other software that isn’t Substance (Photoshop, Blender, Maya) sucks! The only good one is 3D Coat. And the fact that Substance Painter is always adding so many updates, like the path tool and new filters, makes so many things easier that would be really hard without this software.
Don’t be discouraged to buy your license, even if you’re getting it just to learn. It’s amazing software and can help you improve your 3D results so much.

Excellent texturing and all. It's relatively easy to use, but it is ridiculously expensive. I despise Adobe. The things I do to embrace my creativity, haha. 3/5 stars.

Been using Substance Painter 2019 (by Allegorithmic) since it came out, but recently decided to switch to the newest version. Felt like a downgrade: slow, clumsy, some useful stuff that was in the 2019 version is not there anymore. Dear Adobe, you could do so much better with the resources at your disposal, and if not upgrade this soft than at least nor ruin what you had.

I mean, it's a great software... It's just.. y'know.. Adobe.. The price is so high. Is it worth it? I don't know.. maybe? Depends on who you are. I just hate that this is the "industry standard" program for my field of work.

I mean. Its a great software. Incredibly powerful. But fuck dude this shit is ABSURDLY expensive. I cant help but feel theyd make more money with an indie license for 80 bucks or something.
Adobe loses so much to piracy because of their predatory pricing. And they price predatorily because they have no competition in most departments.
I cant even open two instances of the program to copy layers from one project to another. This makes it very painful to try and replicate the texture style of one object to another. Would appreciate this being added.
