Helldivers 2 is a great example of how to ruin your own good game. The game lost a huge amount of its player base and will continue to lose unless they start to understand what the players want. There's no way that these are the same developers when the game first launched. Every update is a huge L for the game and its players, but a huge W for automatons and terminids. This game is getting more balance patches than many PvP games out there, and the amount of effort put into nonsense balancing in a PvE game is INSANE. It's nonsense because nerfing every gun and stratagem into the ground is not something you can call balancing. And what's the logic behind releasing a warbond -which is something you can get with real money if you don't wanna grind in the game- that has guns worse than the game's worst gun? So, if you paid for it, you got a new weapon that is WORSE than the game's worst weapon.
This game was so beautiful at launch despite its many issues. Now, it's just a game that you cannot enjoy if you know how it was back then. There's no way that you can at least get 50% of the fun when you had back then. This is how they ruined this game. Did you ever check the patch notes and realize something?

Should? Are you guys not aware of what you code? You guys don't know what you're coding, really? Their biggest patch (01.000.400) is a patch where they were able to fix a small amount of their mistakes which they ruined before, multiple times. Don't get me wrong, it's a good step in the right direction but it's just not enough. And lots of people ignored the fact that these guys ruined this game but they were able to deliver us a "Hey guys, sorry we screwed and here's something that can fix our mistakes" patch and everyone forgot about the other patches, really? This community... Also worth mentioning is that every update causes more performance issues alongside new bugs, plus the bugs that have still not been fixed since THE LAUNCH of the game.
I just can't anymore. Thank you, Pilestedt, for the good memories. I hope we can see each other again in better circumstances.
I saw the hype online and pretty much ignored it until one of those late-night "I'm bored, what should I do?" moments. I'm about 15 hours in, which isn't bad for me as a fairly casual gamer. Here's a quick story from last night:
Had trouble finding a mission that I could actually connect to, so I decided to just poke around on my own to get some practice on Hard. I'm about ten minutes in and get totally swamped with bots from all sides. My sentries are putting in work, but I'm on my last mag and am basically sprinting through the forest to find some cover. I try to hit my resupply and accidentally hit the SOS thing.
I swear it wasn't more than 15 seconds and a couple of folks jump into the mission. The first thing I hear on the mic?
"Stay strong, brother. We're here to help."
These guys totally bulldoze through the next couple of bases and help me smash the last Hulk before a really gnarly exfil. I then played another THREE HOURS with the same squad. When they finally said that they had to hop off, I thanked them for the rescue. Their response?
"For democracy".
Holy hell this is the game.

I will say though that this really did happen and it really did get me to fall in love with the game. It's probably not reflective of the overall experience, but I still think of this weird experience just about every time I log into the game.
Got knocked out of bounds by some exploding mushrooms, was declared a traitor for abandoning the mission, and then got nuked from orbit.
10/10 - I'm doing my part.

I went to the Arrowhead Car mechanic to have my brand new V8 fixed.
I said the check engine light is on and I feel its vibrating really bad.
They took a look.
One of my spark plugs was bad and the cylinder wasn't firing as a result. They disabled the spark plug in the other cylinder to balance it out and told me how my new V6 was more balanced, since it allowed me to try other cars.
I complained that it didn't feel the same. The power was really bad and it wasn't pulling like it used to. They told me it used to be way too powerful, but admitted that they did overdo it a bit. They replaced my tires so I get better grip and told me it should be better now.
I started really disliking the V6, so I sold it and bought a 1000cc motorcycle. It sounds amazing. I'm in love. And it can really go go go!
First service, Arrowhead mechanics replaced my exhaust without telling me anything. I told them something doesn't seem right, but they insisted it was fine. The mechanic later confirmed this was an error.
I brought my bike back, and they reverted the mistake. For some reason, this also included putting the old oil back into the bike. My engine blew up. They apologized and promised a fix.
Got my bike back several months later, now it has 600cc. Balancing reasons. Too fast. Everybody is riding motorcycles, and Arrowhead wants people to try some of the other vehicles...
I decided to give up and just walk. The Arrowhead mechanic dragged me into a dark alley and cut my legs off. Everybody is walking and it really isn't balanced. I should try a wheelchair.

THIS IS HOW ARROWHEAD PATCHES THEIR DAMN WEAPONS.
As many others have stated: this game requires nProtect Gameguard, which requires root level access. The company, nProtect, has several scandals in its history, including having its user data exploited, as well as not uninstalling when the game it was installed with was installed. If you google "nProtect uninstaill" or "nProtect issues" you will find forum posts discussing the vulnerabilities and difficulties associated with this product as far back as 2008.
Even ignoring the issues with potential privacy, nProtect is the main reason for all the crashes in this game.
If you trust this company with access to everything on your computer, disregard this. But I view this as functionally malware. This is a PVE exclusive game that for some reason needs an anticheat with stronger access to your system than PVP games I've played.
