This game is pretty funny, but the overal balancing is total bullcrap.
If you think that all the vehicles are fairly balanced you are totally wrong. all vehicles (ground and airplanes) that are not owned by the russian faction are made of paper armor. it doesnt matter if you have a german/USA tier 4 tank, you will lose from a tier 2 russian tank without him takeing any damage. its just redicilous, this is the 6th russian developer that creats an OP russian faction.
I recommend you don't okay this game untill they did some serious balancing in both the air and ground battles!
EDIT: After 1772 extra hours of playime, Steam asked me if I would like to change my review, the answer is no. You'll get sucked into this game thinking that it is fun and games. It's not that the game is addicting, it's just that there are no decent alternatives.
War Thunder is basically the intellectual version of the FPS games that all the stupid children and mongoloid brains play. Instead of just being based purely on twitch "skills" which require as much intellectual ability as closing popup spam windows, in War Thunder you have to use at least some tactics and strategy. FPS games are like playing Pong on high speed. War Thunder is like playing chess.
The art of gaming is simply dead for big brains. 20 years ago there were tons of games that required brainpower because PC gaming back then was by nerds and for nerds, but then the corporate suits took over and were like "broaden the appeal to we can make more sales" so everything got dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.
My GF asked me if I was "having fun" playing War Thunder, and I looked at her like she was a f*cking r*tard to even consider that sentence a valid question. I don't have FUN playing War Thunder. This game routinely pisses me off and makes me rage. However, when I stomp the entire enemy team and crush them so utterly I can hear the lamentations of their mothers, I feel satisfaction.
I spent weeks grinding for Operation Winter. The vikings had a word for this. They called it Valhalla. Endless war. Endless combat. Knowing only victory and death. Bathing in the blood of your enemies. You get 15 kills and bask in glory and rewards, and think: what should I do now? Should I get in my Honda Fit and tour the local strip mall for my Triumph? Should I microwave some tendies and throw myself a great Feast? But there is only one option. There is only ever one option. To Battle!
Various cultures have alternatively described the gameplay loop of War Thunder as their vision of Heaven or Hell. It is both.

Avoid this game if you dont like spending obscene amounts of time and money into getting to the modern tanks. It simply is not worth it. And if you do decide to play it, avoid Germany. At lower BR you will get stomped by russia and at higher tier the abrams and F4J spam is impossible to play against. Also unlocking a tank and realising you need to play multiple games just to have the ability to repair your gun is just one of the worst game mechanics I have ever seen.
On top of that, Gaijin is adding premium tanks and planes without considering the current state of the game, leaving already existing planes and tanks (especially the ones that have been in the game for a while) at a major disadvantage.

i love this game fly/driving you neet skill i have seen bomers that dont even bom the just use it like a fly fortres
if you try to get close you die you can loss feul if you get hit i even land my plane efter i lost all my feul
tanks if the break some thing try and stay alive you will have a guy that fix it

tough the moderators are just like in wot, they are verry nazilike.
they ban without treu reasons, and if u report cheaters to much ure going to get banned,
community sucks aswell since the moderators give an exsample a lot follow it,
purposly trieing to enflame u, this to make a report so u can get banned,
it seems a bit of a sport now a days to report people for hatespeach while they provoke u to do so.
now i know i shouldnt get provoked like that, but it is a big factor of this game not beeing that much fun as hoped for,
lately gamehackers have been exploding, since there is no real ban towards there punishment.
i mean getting only banned on an email while the game is free to play is kinda nutcased if u ask me.
problem can be solved so easy,
and i know i speak of all gamers right now,
we are not afraid to give u our harddiskserial number in case u need to ban people that use cheats.,
this way you will make sure that the person cheating will not be able to get back on a new account.
and it will give a proper warning to the childish players we see today.
i mean only richpeople will buy a harddisk over and over, all others cannot,
also for rich people u can destroy it, by contacting all internetcompanys and make a packt that if u catch someone cheating/hacking games that they can become permabanned from the servers by using internetcompanys to filter those out for the ones cheating.
so many solutions can be done against gamehackers, yet they are not doing so, wich makes me wonder if the gamecreators themselfs started off with making cheats for people to buy.
the game is good, play's well, tough the community makes it a game i do not recomend unless your powerfull enough to handle the nazi way of beeing silent.
speak one wrong thing and a ban is sure to follow, even if its only a joke saying hey im going to smoke a joint anyone cares to join.

give netherlands/benelux thier own seperate faction or put China, Israel and japan in other countries and not as thier own I don't see why either would be a big deal.

- Het altijd moeten wachten tot je driver of gunner weer bij bewustzijn is of geswapped is voor een nieuwe, tegen de tijd dat de driver geladen is ben ik al dood en 3 tanks verder.
- Het afketsen van kogels is blijkbaar niet te vinden in deze game
