My first thought about this game was; This looks like Dead Island and Mirror Edge fused together.Well I'm pretty open minded when it comes to Zombie games, like I love zombie games. So bought this, and I've been waiting to buy this game for a long time now to avoid glitches etc.
I started this game and the first cut scene had me hooked, I was so amazed by the gore system, the envirement, and the natur.
One of the best games with Zombies in it.
Buy it, like it, feel it, make love with it.
It's on 50 percent sale right now so grab a copy!
Stunning and wild - 11/10 IGN.

Dying Light. Has Techland found the correct formula for an open world
zombie apocalypse game, or does this follow the same
trap as Dead Island.
---ABOUT---
You play as a generic person named Kyle Crane, an undercover operative
sent to Harran to find a villain named Rais, whom has documents that
could hurt your agency. While it also turns out that Harran now is
a quarantine-zone for a recent zombie virus.
And you must decide between helping the survivors or continuing your
mission.
---REVIEW---
As for the choice of helping the survivors or doing your mission,
you don't have a choice. The game gives you no branching paths,
nor any choices, tho the game is open-world, and has it's share of
optional side-quests and challenges, the main story is as linear as it gets.
And the story isn't even that good, with no plot-twists or surprises,
it serves you the regular clichés you can expect from any blockbuster game.
Nor is any of the characters specially interesting either. The game tries
to make you emotionally bond with it's characters, but you don't really
feel it. When one of the main-story characters died, I was like "Oh... Ok,
let's continue". The characters feels empty, as you don't really get any
chance to bond with them, other than the occasional quests briefings
and cut-scenes, and it does not help that the voice acting is just average,
they don't seem believable. And that's the main story characters, the
side-quest characters is worse, you don't give a damn what happens
to them.
And neither is the villain anything special either. Rise is just yet another
generic bad guy, whom the writers tried to make seem like a clever
mastermind, but he just comes out like an douche whom really
never makes you hate him as a villain, but hate him because
he's annoying.
So apart from the generic characters and a linear non-interesting story,
what does this game do correctly?
What this game managed to nail, is the feeling of an zombie-apocalypse.
How did they do that?
By making an open-world that seems alive... Alive with dead zombies.
You get served two map sections, both of them has a decent size to them,
and there's collectibles and a ton of loot to hunt down, it looks
and feels like an apocalyptic setting, but what really makes it such a good
apocalypse game, is the zombies. They nailed the behaviour of the zombies.
The zombies behave and moves like, you'd never seen before. It's almost
creepy how real they seem, as they walk towards you, occasionally
jogging towards you, tripping on stuff, being dumb like they should be.
If there's obstacles between you and the hungry zombies, they'll not just
casually jump over it, but instead they do this weird, rolling over/falling over shit,
and crawl themselves back on their feet, it's almost disturbing.
They'll also just group up and crawl over other zombies piled up
on top of each other. The rag-doll physics makes this happen,
as I was caught in a house with 20 zombies outside, killing them as they
entered the building, it started building up a pile of dead zombies
the other zombies crawled and tripped over.
Another good example is on several occasions, I'd be looting
a trash bin or a chest near buildings, and I'd just hear this damned bang next to me,
and it was a zombie on the roof of the nearby building, just, walked off
the edge, hit the ground and lay there twitching and trying to
get itself back on it's feet.
It's hard to describe, but they just behave like zombies should do,
and it's almost creepy how real it seems,
But these are the casual zombies. As you progress in the game, you'll
encounter other types of zombies, some whom are athletic and will run
and climb after you, others blows up when you get close and then you
have the hulk zombies, and several other kinds.
The game does feature dynamic day and night cycles.
And the night times in this game, yeah, that shit is scary.
During the night you'll encounter some special types of
zombies, one of them is dangerous as hell, and the zombies
in general are much more aggressive.
The game suddenly turns into a scary stealth game.
So why would you torture yourself by venturing out during the
creepy night among the dangerous zombies?
Because during the night, the game rewards you with twice the
XP points as you'd get during the day time.
And the XP are important, as it's crucial to level
up and gain new abilities to combat the harder types of zombies.
You get XP in three different skill threes. Combat, Agility and Survivor.
The new abilities actually do make a difference in
combat and parkouring.
And here comes the part that makes this game stand out from
most other zombie games. The parkour mechanic.
The parkour mechanic is vital for your survival, as climbing
and running across rooftops are the fastest and safes way of avoiding
the huge groups of zombies down at the ground.
This mechanic works really well, tho, it's not perfect, as it often fails
to recognize where you're trying to climb up. During some missions
where you'll need to climb up a huge antenna, you can expect
to die, by falling, because the game simply fails to know where
you're trying to climb, and you'll just fall down to your death.
The combat system works really well, as there's a ton of melee weapons
to get your hands on. The weapons are upgradable, and you can
craft special versions of your weapons by collecting blueprints,
which adds, toxic, electric and fire damage.
The game also has pistols and rifles, but very few of them.
In total there's 3 types of pistols, 2 types of rifles and one shotgun
to use. It's obvious the developers did this to shift the focus on
the melee combat, as the melee combat works really well, and
to force you to get close and cozy with the zombies.
The developers later on also added crossbows to the game
as an free update. Which we like.
You'll also find blueprints for other various devices, such as
firecrackers to attract the zombie's attention, bombs,
molotovs and more.
The game does really well on the graphical side.
It's gritty, detailed, and believable. Vegetation moves with the
wind, dynamic weather can turn a casual stroll into an survival
documentary from Discovery Channel. What the game does
fall short on the graphical side, is the characters and zombies.
Don't get me wrong, the zombies look really good, and they
dismember pretty nicely also, but, there's just like 3-4 different
zombie models, and it gets boring after a while seeing the same
zombie model after the other over and over again.
The characters in this game ain't really awesome either, as many
of them uses the same models and have stiff facial animations.
This is a long game. Doing most of the side quests and completing
the main quest, the game took me around 35 hours to complete.
Doing everything will probably take you up to around 40 hours.
But, it's almost as it's too long. Don't get me wrong, I love
a lot of content, but only if it's done well.
Most of the side quests are generic boring shit, where you'll
mostly get asked to "Go to this point, collect this, bring it back",
and the main quest-line is mostly boring and filled with clichés.
The game overstays it's welcome, and would actually be better
if it was cut down to 20 hours long, or given much more
interesting side-quests and an interesting story. But as it stands now,
it's too long, as during the end, I was just bored and wanting
to reach the end of the game.
---CONCLUSION---
It's a good game, that fails at creating interesting characters
and an interesting story. It also has boring generic side-quests.
But, it stands as one of the best and real
zombie apocalypse games I've played.
This is what they nailed, and the reason to
pick up this game.

After they released the new DLC ''The Following'' i think it's one of the best zombie games out there, and if you're even considering buying the game, please buy the full game. My thoughts about Dying Light increased drastically after i played the DLC. It's probably because the world is bigger, the fact that you have a buggy to drive around and explore, the legend system (you have a ''legend'' rank and start at 1, everytime you rank up you can choose to increase your stamina, health - stuff like that, you know.), you need to USE more of the items you collect - before the dlc alot of the items didnt have much of a purpose, the story itself is better i think (not as cliche) and alot of other things. The world of Dying Light feels very real, the main story is a little typical for Techland, but they manage to keep you interested to the end. I'm not saying the story is bad or boring though, the main story is just a little cliche and maybe typical for a game like this. Not that its any bad or boring, personally i enjoyed it. But i strongly recommend you to try it out, and from there on make a opinion for yourself. I can almost guarantee you that you will like it. I sure did.
