Cubic Odyssey is the little oddball of 2025 kind of a mix between No Man’s Sky and Minecraft. It’s a fun, well-made game that captures the spirit of classic Minecraft but with a cool sci-fi twist. It’s meaty, it has depth, and above all, it’s just plain good fun! Well done to the developer for creating this little marvel.
That said, it’s not without its flaws. There are three very important things that could use a small or medium tune-up:
The UI: It would be great if the "Sort" button were available not just in chests, but also in the backpack and spaceship cargo space. Also, a way to delete quests you’ve accepted would be really helpful. On top of that, it would be nice to be able to take more than one quest of each type maybe two at a time instead of just one.
Ship building: The tech to build ship hulls needs to be pushed much earlier, ideally into the early-mid game instead of being locked to endgame only.
Environmental dangers: I’d love to see more hazards like toxic gas or fumes, and maybe some new gear to deal with those threats. Also, the ability to sell captured and repaired spaceships for money would add a great gameplay loop.
Lastly, vendors need to be able to buy more item stacks. Trading is very limited when each vendor can only buy a small number of items at a time.
That’s it from me. Good luck & thanks again for this awesome game!

The game looks and feels like garbage, and it is. As much as I was hyped initially when I saw the trailer, the game is just terrible. Textures look ugly, characters look even uglier. It's almost like I returned to Digger Online from 2013. Also ridiculous how in 2025 when making a sandbox survival game you can't make trees to drop the blocks above the one you chopped. I'm not asking for falling trees or dynamic growing trees, JUST DROP THE BLOCKS WHEN I BREAK ONE BLOCK OF A TREE. Ridiculous how Minecraft also doesn't have it. Also just stupid progression, tin is tier 2 material when iron is tier 1, also for some reason tin mines longer then iron, are you serious? How you can be this stupid, just dumb. Combat is trash as well, aiming with a gun doesn't do shit, 0.05x zoom and that's it? How about making it actually putting a gun in front of you like in Battlefield or whatever and using gun's sight? Melee animations are horrible. Also why the hell would you make CUBIC planets that turn into SPHERES when you fly away from them? Seriously what's wrong with you, how bad can you make the design of this game. And this is not even early access, why? Don't make this is a full release if you have no idea what you're doing. Plot is mostly fine, eh, could be better. Music is fine. Shaders and clouds (lol) are nice.

Many people have called this a cross between No Man's Sky (NMS) and Minecraft. That's a very superficial comparison. While the game uses Voxel Graphics similar to Minecraft, they are VERY different games. Minecraft is a sandbox building game. Cubic Odyssey is a Quest-based game with a specific goal.
Comparing to NMS, yes there are Pirates and space combat, but they are very different in terms of building tools, appliances, objects, and goals.
This is a fun game that is both forgiving, yet not too easy. There's a constant struggle vs the Pirates and some but not all creatures, when on the ground. It can get grindy, in that there's alway a hunt for Raw Resources. Ores need to be gathered for construction, and, while there are occationally small vein's, we're talking MAYBE half a dozen pieces in a vein. It also tends to be mixed Ores as much as a clump of a single Ore.

So far as a fan of No Man Sky and Minecraft I gotta say this is like they both had a baby! And this is IT! I'm loving the game so far, the game is very well thought out, fun to play, Crafting isn't painful, and all that is missing is dedicated servers, I haven't tried co-op yet, but for single player so far its been a joy to play. I got the demo first and few hours later bought the full game. So much to do and so many layers to this. Can't wait to see what's next and play more. Great job guys/gals that made this!

I'd like to hate the game because of the crashing and freezing, but the the game is actually good. Just needs some tightening. Random birds fly through the ground, pirates shoot through blocks, etc. Imma probably spend 100+ hours in the game, but please give us some updates.

This feels like a hybrid of No Man's Sky and Minecraft and there's so much I like about this - hence the recommend - and yet so much I dislike. Let me start by saying the multiplayer experience needs work. As the host of a game, you can craft from nearby chests and a lot of the events in the game are only doable by you. If you're someone joining another world, you're constantly reminded of this by not having access to some of these conveniences. Also, if you want to coop the whole game, you will eventually need to go back to your own world to fix your ship since that's only unlocked in your own save, which you can then take to multiplayer.
Besides that, tho, this game is great and if they fix the multiplayer issues I can see this being one I'll keep coming back to for a long time.

Love the game so far. I think there is much that can be added and I hope the devs continue to support the game far into the future, but I’m greatly enjoying what is there currently. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about co-op, but thus far I haven’t played any co-op and can’t speak to that. As far as single player goes it’s been a smooth experience. I haven’t seen any bugs and the game runs and looks great on my Steam Deck.

1. Adds purpose, an optional Story Arch right out of the box.
2. Scratches all the exploration and wonder itches of MINECRAFT & No Mans Sky.
3. At night Zombies, Creepers, & Skeletons are replaced with just as woefully stupid Pirates.
4. You can make Home Bases on different planets, or if your ship is big enough, make mobile Home Base on a Star Ship class matching your play style.
This IS Worth it..

This game is truly a masterpiece. It’s incredibly well thought-out, and many features are implemented much better than in other similar titles. You can really tell how much care went into the design. While there are occasional bugs, they usually get fixed quickly thanks to the frequent updates. Keep up the great work—this is something special!

i was dumb, and failed to realise the ship u crashed in can be repaired, spent a lot of time just enjoying the starting area.
Now that I can fly around in space its going to be far more enjoyable. Also you can place storage chests or tools inside your ship. looking forward to playing more as i get more free time.

I do recommend this game. I haven't left the first star system yet and can still recommend this game. I will only put out a couple negative points to consider before you buy.
1. Multiplayer is janky. only the host can do most of the important stuff so the other player just become resource hounds. I have faith this will eventually be fixed.
2.(Main Point) planets. you see a massive planet but you only get a portion of the planet to actually explore. if you attempt to hop on your ship and fly away to hopefully stumble across resources you will be disappointed. your base will constantly respawn in front of you since you are just going in a loop when you reach the edge of the playable area.
Hopefully the planets become fully explorable eventually. Its a large area to explore, however I feel people should understand this game is very fun but does need some work to make it great.

Its a little difficult in the beginning I can admit, but after catching my stride and understanding the fundamentals of the game (mostly resource management and debating if the risk was worth the reward for an item/chest/ resource) I can confidently say this game definitely has me in a choke hold. I'm sure after a few updates here and there for a way better coop experience and fine tuning some UI stuff and inventory navigation (I play on controller), this game will grow on you and it is so much fun!!! took me 30+ hours to get to T6 Gear (finding not crafting) Idk why steam says 51 hours but that's wrong.
Not really more to say, so many other comment provide really good feedback and the others, well its steam you know how people are on here smh....
If you do decide to buy the game remember, give it at least 10 Solid hours (at your own pace!! not your favorite streamers pace, not your favorite youtubers pace, not your friends pace, AT YOUR OWN PACE) and i truly thing you find this game to be a gem. okay later nerds!!

Resource cost is very unbalanced. It took me 12 hours of gameplay to craft an item only to have it destroyed in a matter of seconds by a low level enemy. The cost to fix it was the same as it was to craft it.
You can craft turrets to defend your base (again, the resource cost to make them is way too high considering the time it takes to get them) and they are completely useless. They continuously fire in random directions making annoying sounds and when enemies approach your base, they don't even shoot them. It was funny for about 4 seconds until I remembered I paid money for this game.
There is at least one time-eating bug I found sufficient on its own for giving a negative review. "Warp cells" are an expensive, time consuming item to craft and they have just randomly disappeared from my ship on two separate occasions followed by the game crashing.
The game also expects you to spend so much time collecting boring resources like sand, coal and water. I mean soo much time. The amount of coal you need (which you get from wood) is just insane. Like hours worth of time farming coal. Its extremely boring.

TLDR - This game is absolutely worth the $20. I hope more content is to come, remember you dont have to keep following the quest go explore! If you feel your weapons are weak to pirates, go explore you will find better weapons. The dev team seems active for now!
I would say you can ignore any negative review on the multiplayer aspect of the game as of now it seems the dev team is trying to fix that. And even if they dont sure it would be nice to have good multiplayer at some point. But I feel the other negative reviews especially anyone talking about this game "should have been released as an early access" is stupid. I will tell you what it is refreshing to see a dev team go heres what we made lets see how folks react. Because honestly I am sick of devs like the fun pimps from 7 days to die that released an early access game and it stayed there for 10 years and then when they fully released the game that we had all known, completely changed a lot of things. Is this game perfect absolutely not, is it absolutely worth the $20 yes 100%. Are the pois lacking sure. I believe as long as this game is not abandoned. It will easily be selling for $40 by next year if the correct amount of content and qol adjustments are made. I dont want to go into depth about whats good and what is lacking. I guess my one key pointer would be the main story line/quest seems like it rushes you. Now you can turn of tracking the main quest line i believe so its not always in the top left of your screen but man i was chugging through them until i hit a hard wall and A was under powered, B out of the next tier of resources. But i realized hey i dont need to keep following the main quest line until i want too. What stems from this though is you need warp cells to go another solar system but on bardwell 3 planet(starting solar system) it is abundant in all tiers of resources which is cool. Although it makes getting the tier 5 resources harder since the resource pool is shared amongst every possible resource besides glowing. So thats where the big first wall really comes in. Once you are able to get a warp cell to travel to another solar system. To hand pick certain planets that host the resources you absolutely need is great. I know when you first enter outer space your companion drone QB-1 tells you, we should go to this planet or you can really do whatever you like. I just wish there was a more fluid experience between main quest line and your freedom. Idk maybe not and its fine and i just simply ignore my quest in the top left or stop tracking it if possible. Simply for $20 its well worth it im 12 hours in currently and plan to put 100s in. Also in my experience i have yet to encounter game breaking bugs or even small ones. Im sure bugs exist but none that i have noticed. Love this game and hope nothing but the best for it!

Good 50ish hours of progression/main story game play available. Good bit of fun if you liked No Man's Sky with a bit more combat here and over all purpose but minecraft style building and aesthetic. Played solo and few crashes but nothing bad on my setup.
Will say game is kinda half baked as many of the 20-30 content zones are clearly not finished yet (IE: ships after 20 just loop back to T1). Some jank here and there, but nothing unforgivable. "Y" transfers items from inventories which I didn't learn till like 30 hours in. Some vendors sell gear way above your level, straight up bought best weapon/armor off vendors around 10ish which let me just skip to the end.
Over all recommend.

I would normally not review a game after playing only 34 hours, but I think in this case, it's warranted. Not so much for what it is (still a bit unbalanced, still a bit grindy in terms of constantly having to produce resources you need in order to go get resources you want to develop further), but for what it promises to become: the love child of Minecraft and No Man's Sky.
Does it need work? Yes. But the developers have been listening and responsive. I see good things in the future for this game. Having said that, it's fun to play now. Really. Buy it. Play it. Tell all your friends, etc.

I rarely post reviews but i really want this game to succeed.
This game has amazing potential. It just feels right! Sadly tho, it also feels unfinished. I've played many Early Access games that feel more polished than this one and this game isn't even classified as an early access game which can really hurt peoples expectations.
I'm giving this a thumbs up because its worth playing even in its unfinished state.
If you're reading this and you like minecraft, trove, survival games, and/or No Mans Sky then this is really worth checking out. Its GORGEOUS for a minecraft style game. The crafting is really well done. Exploration is fun. Difficulty can be on the hard side but not too bad if you take the time to grow your equipment and ship early on before adventuring out into the galaxy too far.
The death penalty is pretty high which wouldn't be that bad if the auto save function ACTUALLY worked from time to time. If you forget to save manually often you will lose a lot of money and parts. Your ship takes abnormally high damage even if you've upgraded to a better one and the cost of repairs is not balanced at all in my opinion.
Again, this game has huge potential and i really hope the devs are good about listening to feedback updating often!

Absolutely amazing!
This game is truly a masterpiece. It’s incredibly well thought-out, and many features are implemented much better than in other similar titles. You can really tell how much care went into the design. While there are occasional bugs, they usually get fixed quickly thanks to the frequent updates. Keep up the great work—this is something special!

The game is simply Awesome. Luv the No Man's Sky / Minecraft / Enshrouded's Offspring. Can't seem to stop playing. It is buggy in multiplayer but still an amazing experience. I hope the dev sticks to it. Would love to see where this game takes me. If you are on the fence, Just buy it for 20Bucks you can't go wrong. The story is a Blast.

Game is pretty fun, if you like mine craft you will probably like this.
i was dumb, and failed to realise the ship u crashed in can be repaired, spent a lot of time just enjoying the starting area.
