This game shows, WHY WE MAKE STORIES!
And not want to be replaced by a soulless AI/machine feed with our ideas to make them for us.
Playing as either as Zoe or Mio, both having the same goal. To get published, but for different reasons.
They are so opposite in their personalites that is almost a bit silly and annoying at the start, but as the tale goes, they did grow on me and started to like them at the end.
The story itself is in the background to drive these two heroins through some incredible enviroments ( that runs well on a 10 year old PC!), even epic at times!! The puzzles in this game were so fun to solve, the game is so creative in how to navigate through them, with different powers and cooporation with a friend.
Even the boss fights were really fun and such cool designs as well! Some of them really did stick with me afterwards, since they were just that ''WOOOW'' top tier ideas made into a game for us to see.
Split Fiction is an obligatory multiplayer game, solo play is impossble. But this game have a friend pass, thus only one person need to buy the game, and the other can play with you for free. A very neat feature!
The music dosen't really contain any earworms, none of them got stuck in my head. I did most of the time not really notice it ..But the OST I did pick up on, I liked, fitted the mood well. But it was mostly just background noise.
But my lack of attention might been due to all the talking and laughing between me and my friend overshadowed most of it. xD
Voice acting is really good!! I tried all languages and they are were rather equal in in quality and talent to the original as well! There was only one that had a bit odd .. recording echo in it.
It was very fun to switch around between langauges, like it was a Disney movie, and that is a great achievement well done!
( Still .. I do find it funny that there is no Swedish options, despite it being Swedish devs. Just reminds me a bit how much we don't like our language overall. x'D )
Easy to get all the achievements are easy to find and get. Except for one .. that was so stress inducing lol.
I loved the references they had, bringing an extra golden star to an already amazing game.
But I think the only ones who can get them are the ones who bought a copy themselves, and the free to play wont-you can almost say you pay to have achievements recorded. xD ( Noticed that in another game from the same dev )
And then .. at the end ..
This game climbed up to one of my faves. It does really resonate to why I want to create.
The journey of making a story,
The reason why we feel for the stories until it reaches its conclusion. Even if is just ''Defeat the bad guy.'' The gameplay is carrying it, writing, art or music that grabs you to continue regardless what the ending might bring.
Since that what is what made me want to play it, not really for the story, but for the enviroment and fun gamplay with a friend. Yet I enjoyed the journey of this story a lot, especially the later part of the game.
And also made me think:
What brings the actual soul to our creations?
For ourselves and for others to witness.
10/10 gameplay, and also for story.
