I am in love with this game. The world is very big and feels so much alive. Very fun spells. I recommend this to everyone who likes Harry Potter.

If you are willing to use Nexus mods, I would recommend this game. If you are NOT willing to use Nexus mods, I would NOT recommend this game. (See list of the mods I used at the bottom.) Also, you should know that this is an action-adventure rather than an RPG.

The story is alright, you start playing as a character who has "unique abilities" and are quickly thrown into a plot because of those abilities. What I enjoyed most was exploring Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter, it's really fun to run around in the castle and the forests.
The game has leveling system that I'm not sure I like: You gain xp by finishing challenges (like "collect pages for this book" or "fight enemies of type x"). It takes a long time to unlock your skills, so my advice is to keep questing and don't bother with the collection challenges in the beginning.
There's three major gameplay "features" that drove me absolutely bonkers and had it not been for mods I would not have finished this game.
* Hand-holding: The character is dropping hints for area puzzles before we've even had the time to look at the puzzle. The minimap is also very distracting because it reveals every step of the way and is explicitly telling you exactly which path to go next. There's some tweaks that can be done in settings, but not disabling hints altogether or tweaking what's shown on minimap.
* Gear management: You constantly get new gear. After a while you don't even look at what you've found, just the numbers. ("Does this gear have higher value than the old one? If yes: equip") The problem is that there's no easy way to handle transmogs of what you're wearing, you have to constantly change that manually or you'll look like a bad halloween costume. Finding new gear becomes less interesting to a point where there's no fun in looting chests at all.
* Artificially increased playtime by using A LOT of easy repeatable puzzles: The first time you do one of the most basic game puzzles (The Merlin trial), it's fun. After 10 times, it's ok. When you learn there's NINETYFIVE of these puzzles, each with the same end cutscene and similar mechanics, you just lose interest. The problem is those puzzles are the only way to expand your gear inventory size. There's the same issue with unlocking doors, every time you unlock a door there's a little minigame which takes no skill to complete. Fun for the first three times, then it quickly becomes a chore as you're interrupted in your exploration every time you want to unlock a door.
I solved these issues by installing a number of mods from Nexus:
* Autohomora - Auto skip alohomora minigame
* Multicorfors - Clothing appearance loadouts
* (Ultimate silencer) Puzzle hint voiceover remover
* Mouse control for broom
* Game pauser
* Silencio
its a fun hogwarts game, i said i can prove that you can be a slytherin and not be a dark wizard and since i got the unforgivable spells i have used them all the time
*EDIT* Game is literally unplayable, first time i played this it was all working fine and all my other game works fine but now its a horrible lag and the game stutters and freezes all the time, can't even play for 5 minutes

If only you could have known what ungodly retribution your little "clever" scroll was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your filthy tongue. But you couldn't, and you didn't, and now you're paying the drakes, you almsivi-damn fetcher. I will shit Corprus all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, n'wah.

Almost 71,8 hours ganking time. Finished the main story and now thriving towards 100% Game Completion.
+ Awesome main story, however, I did expect a bit more "POWER" and Magical bosses
- Boring to fly around and collect everything after the main story is complete, thats all you do, collect chests, merlin trials etc. Not many quests left to do.
RECOMMENDED either way.
